    The legend of the poinsettia begins in Mexico with two children named Maria and Pablo. Their family was very poor, but nevertheless looked forward to the annual Christmas festival in their town. Their little village was filled with Christmas decorations at this joyous time of year. A favourite was the manger scene at the village church. Maria and Pablo were saddened because they had no money to buy Christmas presents for anyone. They dreamed of giving a gift to the village church for the baby Jesus. One Christmas Eve, Maria and Pablo went to church to attend a special service. As they walked to church empty-handed, they decided to pick weeds in shades of green that were growing alongside the road. They planned to present these to the baby Jesus in the church manger scene as their humble gift. Upon arriving at church and seeing all of the beautiful Christmas decorations, Maria and Pablo placed their green leaves around the manger. The other children laughed at them until the green leaves miraculously turned into bright red petals. Breathtaking flowers that looked like bright red stars soon surrounded the manger. That is the legend of the poinsettia. This poinsettia pick is not bright red like the one in the legend, but an elegant champagne colour, featuring two flowers with berries, green leaves and twigs.
